Ohoho Xem was annoyed.

Kali had proposed Xem and him enter their two Arabians into the Irish Jubilee Show. Seeing how the two horses were related (Prophet sired Diva) Kali was all over the idea of the two horses dressed magnificently and shown side by side while some awesome guitar solo played in the background. 

Xem however was not very amused. But rather than flat out refuse the offer, Xem's black heart decided that it was better to raise Kali's hopes up and the crush them on his day of joy and celebration. Cause nothing pleased her more than irritating (and perhaps humiliating) her happy-go-lucky coworker.

Every single god-forsaken day Kali would pop his glowing face into Xem's coveted personal space and ask about how the halter was coming along. Gritting her teeth into a menacing smile she always replied with some over exaggerated detail that made Kali's grin even brighter.

Manipulating this man was a piece of cake. 

So when the day of the show arrived Xem took her best headache meds and greeted the morning with an abnormal amount of cheer. Enzo squinted suspiciously at her during breakfast but said nothing.

Kali didn't notice a thing. He yapped endlessly to the audience members about how they were going to be absolutely blown away by the duo. He gave some journalists little secrets on what to expect. He dropped tiny hints about accessories and just how much time went into each halter down to the rare thread he had to pre-order months ago to get it in time. Kali was absolutely fanatical. Xem just gave a complimentary nod every now in then. 

Kali outshone the sun when it came time for him to show off Prophet. Prophet's mane was shampooed and conditioned then curled to give off a sheen. The halter was so pristine that even the thread reflected light. 

Xem smiled to herself thinking "A +" and then entered the show ring.

Kali didn't see her at first. 

She stood beside her mare in an oversized gray hoodie and equally bland pajama pants tucked into some rugged riding boots that had perhaps seen too much.

Her horse was equally horrendous. If Prophet was a sight for the gods then Diva was the EXACT opposite. The bridle was scraps of fabric lazily hand-stitched together. The lower part nearly slid off of the mare's face. Little bows which looked to be taken off of this year's christmas gifts hung limp in Diva's messy mane. Xem had suck stickers she bought at the dollar store half priced all over making sure they would adequately show her enthusiasm for being anywhere near Kali. She tied DRINK COASTERS to one side of the halter. Also a potato for some added kick. Add some real Irish theme to this party.

Hands in her hoodie pockets she nearly strutted in front of Kali with a smirk.

Kali's face dropped as he soaked in the sight. His eyes darted from the make-shift halter (that was slowly slipping off) to the unkept hair back to Xem.

"I..." He said. Obviously at a lost for words. 

Xem's smirk turned into a wolfish grin "Took me ages to complete. What do you think" She did a mock 'ta da' presentation with her hands towards her mare.

Kali stared blankly at the horse. Then back to Xem. Then back to the horse. Then at the 4-leaf clover sticker that was slowly peeling off.

After another moment his face lit up in a firework's display of delight. "Modern art!" He yelped. "Who would have thought everyday civilian items could inspire such festivity! You're a minimalist my friend!"

Kali slung his arm around Xem's shoulder and proudly showed off their two horses together. His smile couldn't get any bigger in front of the flash of the cameras.

She didn't care that the entire halter literally peeled off at some point. She just stood there with lead rope in hand and a dangling halter while Kali showed off the horses anyway. Kali said something about a safety release later on to which the reporters replied brilliant! 

Ohoho Xem was absolutely furious.
